Can't login via the web UI, telnet times out on connection.

Hmm, let me check the server log and restart the game server. Did you sign in with incorrect credentials more than 3 times? The game server will blacklist IPs with excessive failed logins.

I was able to sign in using ConnectBot on my phone without issue. I checked the log and didn't see any issues with your past sign in attempts. There are 2 IPs in the blacklist currently, but none of those were recently added. Can you try connecting again? You can use both the Linux and Windows native telnet programs. I am aware that putty does not work, and supporting it will take a considerable amount of time. :(

It blacklists wrong logins? Fairly sure that's what happened, let me look.

Noticed that you just logged in and back out just fine there.

The blacklist is there so that real-world hackers can't easily hack in-game accounts, as telnet is pretty scriptable by most script kiddies.

Now I'm not so sure. I can't login to a fresh test character (Credentials test:test) at all, even on a VPN (So therefore different IP).

Also, Windows' native telnet client isn't pre-installed, but I can try it.

Now I can login to the telnet via a VPN but the web client is still stubbornly refusing my login.

OK, web client works with a VPN now, not sure why it was on the fritz earlier. IP got blacklisted apparently (Probably me trying to get PuTTY to work).

I think it might be related to the new VM code I recently released. I am looking at the logs and see a traceback being generated which appears to show that as the issue.

The problem basically is that the engine tries to initialize the VM persistent memory without the VM itself being properly initialized. Existing characters who logged in before will still work, as those VMs would have been initialized using the older code.

If you were on the blacklist, you wouldn't actually see a login at all, it would automatically boot you without another thought.

Looks to still be a bug in the Edge browser where the browser doesn't send the close connection packet to the server like the other browsers do. This basically keeps you connected in the chat channel, and keeps a lot of other things active as the game still thinks you are connected. So I was basically chatting to myself when you connected last. :( I really need to reply back to Microsoft's tweet on this issue have them fix it in a future update as it's really annoying and can cause all sorts of weirdness.
